EMBARQ™ Online Security 6.x Intrusion Prevention
Intrusion Prevention is a component of Firewall that scans incoming network traffic for certain patterns that indicate an ongoing network attack. This service will prevent worms that maliciously spread themselves across the network to attack individual computers.
  1. Open EMBARQ Online Security

    Start => Programs => EMBARQ Online Security => Open EMBARQ Online Security

    Or Right Click the EMBARQ Online Security icon from the system tray and click Open EMBARQ Online Security


  2. To open EMBARQ Online Security Firewall tab either click Configure for Firewall on the home screen or click the Firewall button on the left side of the home screen.

  1. Click on Intrusion Prevention.
  1. To disable Intrusion Prevention remove the check next to Enable Intrusion Prevention.

    The Action on suspected intrusion attempt pane, select Block and log attempt to block the intrusion attempt. Select Log only if to keep a log file of suspected intrusion attempts. Select the Alert when intrusion attempt is suspected check box to receive an alert popup whenever there is a suspected attempt.


  2. Click Show Alert Log to view all recent alerts.
  1. The Alerts Log displays all the alerts Firewall created.

    Select Clear from the right-click menu to clear a single alert. Click Clear All to empty the alert list. To see a pop-up alert window each time there is an alert or a rule was created that should pop up an alert, select the Show Alert Dialog check box.


    To view detailed information about a single alert highlight it and click Properties.
